Art Rotation

Introduction
The Matariki Arts Rotation Yesterday was pretty cool. We learnt some new skills like, building a Manu Wahine and also we made really awesome looking whetu, every Tuakana student that was at school participated in this cool rotation and those are some of reasons why I liked the rotation quite a lot.
Activities
So the activities we did were: Whetu Making, Ki o Rahi and making Manu Wahine. In Whetu Making we had some paper that had stars on them. We had to colour them in and decorate them using these cool patterns. I used hatching and cross-hatching for the patterns. Hatching is at the start of your drawing you spread all your colours out and then you slowly put your colours together more. That’s the same with Cross-Hatching but you do it with both sides and also I used Hatching and Cross-Hatching, because it looked really cool and it was my favorite out of all the patterns we could choose. The game we played was Ki o Rahi we were the Red Team and they were the Blue Team. The Red Team had to protect the big bucket from the Blue Team which had to try and touch the bucket with the ball, but the Blue team had a ball and they had to touch as many cones as they can to get points when they touch the big bucket. When we were making Manu Wahine we had to use small pieces of flax and some cutty grass. It was hard but in the end we made the kites!
Biggest Challenge
My biggest challenge was making the Manu Wahine because tying the strings were pretty difficult and also connecting the cutty grass to the string was pretty hard.
Conclusion
I enjoyed the Matariki arts rotation because we never usually do this and all the activities were fun. I hope you enjoyed and comment if you find any mistakes.
